Hi Max,

We have a web page mentioning complementary therapies here (http://www.mndassociation.org/life_with_mnd/what_is_mnd/complementary.html)

and also a PDF which has a paragraph on acupuncture on the third page down here (http://www.mndassociation.org/document.rm?id=22)

It may not tell you anything you haven't already looked into yourself but it does have a useful few tips on discussing various complementary therapies with your GP and also making sure that you discuss your medical history, lifestyle and diet before the acupuncture course.

I hope you hear back from others with some personal experiences, but if you don't, feel free to call Connect as they are always happy to discuss things with you and also have knowledge of various complementary therapies with regards to MND.

Best Regards,

Robyn

Hi Max and Robyn,

I am 3/4 through a 10 session treatment with an acupuncturist. I am still in Spain until we are able to sell our house. Through our private medical cover I have a weekly session which lasts 40-50 minutes. I feel it is doing some good.

However I consulted my neurologist early February and told him of my depression. He suggested Esertia and I have been taking 10mg daily for 4 weeks and fell much better and have a distinctly better demeanor. So the combination of acupuncture and anti depressant has done wonders.

My uncle has under gone a few sessions of acupuncture. And he seems to have no complains about the process. In fact, he says he feels better with every session.

Hi Michael

I trust you are OK and adjusting back into the UK lifestyle!!

Could you let me know the name and location of the acupuncturist you used in Spain please?
As my private health insurance does not cover this treatment I will have to fund it myself, can you remember what the cost was per session?
Now you have been back in the UK for a few months do you still think it was the right move?

All the best

Keith.

There was a forum discussion on acupunture from 10 Sept 2012 - thread started by Mellonius - Life with MND - which might be worth visiting. M

Thanks Mell, I am already sold on the idea of acupuncture having had three sessions on a recent cruise. If I don't get a reply from Michael I will probably send him a PM.
