Hi all
I was just after advice regarding muscle cramps. My mum has the regularly through the night and is on 200mg of quinine per day. I have asked the gp if it could be raised and he gave her 300mg per day but the cramps are still occurring though not as serverly. Can she take a higher dose or does anyone have advice of a better med for this problem.

Thanks

Michelle

Hi michelle,

If you enter the term 'muscle cramps' in the search box at the top of the page, you should find a good selection of threads where there is info available from other peoples' experiences, although you may need to look right through some threads quite closely to find it.

For a start you could look here (http://forum.mndassociation.org/showthread.php?953-Leg-cramps&p=6864&viewfull=1#post6864), here (http://forum.mndassociation.org/showthread.php?1053-Jumpy-legs-Cramps&p=7522&viewfull=1#post7522), and here (http://forum.mndassociation.org/showthread.php?1092-New-to-the-forum&p=7874&viewfull=1#post7874). There will be other threads which hold relevant information.

Hope you find the info you need.

Best wishes,

Mike.

Hi Michelle,

I too get severe cramps and take quinine which does help to a degree - night time is worse for me, I have to wake Darren several times during the night to relieve them. I find certain foods (haven't figured which)makes cramps 100 times worse.

Beat wishes to you both

My husband takes Baclofen, presrcibed by his doctor half 15mg in the morning and 2 at bedtime. These do help him. Someone also mentioned to me today that Banana's are supposed to be good too. worth a try. Hope you find something that helps. Louise

Hi all

I use quinine which I think has helped and recently I have had the benefit of a leg massage which I think has helped more. I do not get as many cramps now and nor are they so painful. I also have some pain in the neck (not the wife!) with a drooping head and a massage has helped that as well. There are certain oils that are beneficial to aid muscle cramps. Hope this helps.
