Hi ,we had a bit of a scary thing happen to Tom
We were in the garden moving sand when suddenly Tom seemed not able to get a breath. It was almost like his throat forgot to let the air in. Wondering if others had this happen . He was fine after he relaxed but he frightened me. Lorret

Yes Lorret;

I have it quite often. I think the total automatic system of breathing is affected and silly little things can stop me breathing. I guess the emergency system of breathing still would work if i passed out.

It's so hard to explain, I do find myself not having a breath for some time or sometimes panting like a dog. My breathing does still work quite well but it's not normal.

So I don't think it's so dangerous even though it's very distressing. Try to relax Tom and he might need to breath out in-order to breath in.

Talk to his breathing specialist as well. Others might have a different take on it.

All the best, Terry

Wow sounds scary.. he has done this twice but that was before diagnosis. At this rate he won't be the only one needing to relax

I used to get a similar thing. Best advice I can give don't let Tom panic. It is natural reaction but it makes it worse

Hello Lorret
I use a power breath to exercise my diaphragm and a peak flow meter to see how it's going.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Thank you for the help. I'm not familiar with a power breath though Darryl.
