    Am worried because of a bad fall :(

    Hi all,

    I fell over last week (lost my balance) and fell straight on my face. I have a broken nose and whiplash. The problem is I seem to be deteriorating much quicker in only a week. Before it was just my arms and hands that were bad now i'm really wobbly on my feet, especially when it comes to stairs!! Also my face is really twitching which I haven't experienced yet, mainly on my top lip. My confidence has faded and I feel in a dark place. Am trying to keep positive for my friends and family but struggling to. Anybody else had a similar experience?

    Hi Alisa,

    I had similar experiences last year, I did acquire foot ups, a stick, then crutches and finally a rollator,
    like you my progression seemed faster than my mind could adapt,
    I found my most vulnerable was distractions or lack of concentration.
    I truly don't want to frighten you the last time I fell was last November and haven't fallen
    since.i wish you a speedy recovery with your face and shock.

    Best wishes

    Roy.

    Hi Alisa;

    Sorry to hear about your fall and I hope you recover quickly. Once you lose confidence and your stress levels increase you will notice more problems.

    I can not think of anything more frightening than falling the way we do.

    I agree with Roy in regards to concentration and distractions. The last time I fell was three years ago in November. Like Roy, I also use a rollator but mine is quite heavily weighted for extra stability.

    Hope your nose is straight, love Terry

    Sounds great, have a good time Ailsa;

    Make sure you book in the airport for help with your disability as they are general good at that.

    Best wishes, Terry

    Hi Ailsa

    Have a wonderful trip! Florida is still warm and sunny now Just an FYI they rent beach wheelchairs there with special wheels made for the sand so you can zip around on the beach!

    Enjoy

    Hi Alisa,

    Thinking back through my OT I also had hand rails fitted to stairs both sides and also in my shower
    to make it safer.At the same time a stairlift was also planned,it was fitted 12 weeks later.To keep
    some control I have tried to plan for the worst and pray for the best.

    Warm wishes

    Roy
