    Urinary sheaths for overnight urination.

I've just come across a little-known system which is very effective for night-time urination in men.The idea is both for the incontinent and to save the rest of us those bleary-eyed trips to the toilet or sessions with the urine bottle, and restore normal sleep patterns.

A urinary sheath is fitted (they come in different sizes so a specialist nurse comes to you for the fitting) to the outside of the penis. It is self-adhesive with a glue which later removes easily, and attaches to a disposable plastic bag to which it connects by tube. You wear it overnight in bed and empty the bag in the morning, discarding the whole unit every day (and using a fresh set each night)

The system really works well (no spills, even in my first three days), and with practice you can sleep through your activities. How nice is that?

Access: you choose. GP, District Nurse or Continence Advisor. Or, if you wish, self-referral direct to Jade http://www.jade-euro-med.co.uk/sheaths.htm on 0800 783 4228 who will arrange for a specialist to visit you. The specialist 'fits' you personally, monitors your progress, sorts out any problems and liaises with your GP (this is the quickest route to acquiring a set by far). And then arranges your continuing supply of the apparatus.

There is no equivlent system for ladies, I'm told, but Jade are happy to have their specialist nurses advise you if you need help.

    Sleep well!

Erm, does this mean that once you got into the habit of 'sleeping through your activities' should you wish to no longer (or you've run out!) use the sheaths, mean that you would 'wet the bed' because you've become used to ignoring your bodies signals?? Food for thought....
