    Hi all,

    Thanks for your information.

I am taking codeine as prescribed by my doctor and I have just ordered a new mattress. My plan is that when I can no longer get upstairs I will get a profiling bed for my spare room on ground level. I am resisting this as long as possible.

I don’t want to be dependent on painkillers so my GP has arranged an appointment with a muscosceletal specialist in September.

    Love Barry

    Hi Barry
The reason I asked about the bed is because my husband suffered with chronic back pain and using the profiling helped enormously.
I understand the reluctance to get one, and often OT's are rather slow in ordering them(and it was a massive loss for us to not be able to sleep together)but it has really helped. We talked to our community matron and she ordered one immediately.
I get the issue with pain killers also, but why would you stay in pain? If they help then take them, same with the bed.My husband is very very stubborn, but all we can do is manage whatever appears and use whatever we can to ease the discomfort.

    Hi Marge,

I often think my stubbornness leads to injury but I refuse to give up. If my consultation with the musculoskeletal specialist points to MND progression rather than another issue then I will enquire about a profiling bed.

    Best wishes,
    Barry

Back pain is awful Barry, very sorry to hear you are suffering with it.
Hope you soon find something to ease the pain x
