Ha ha Sarah that's the sort of thing mick and I would do. He likes to dance with me on my sack truck. Discussed with ot that I'd have a ceiling hoist in bedroom and wet room and a portable one to use elsewhere. Think the portable one will be here before the motorised sit to stand hoist!! Will need it in place anyway. X

Just thought I'd let you all know that my new helper came for the first timethis lunchtime. All went well , she got me some lunch and took me to the bathroom .
The sack truck worked well, she was very nice and I thought hink we're going to get on just fine.
Feel a big sense of relief now. Phew!

    Hi Jo,

It’s great to hear that your helper and you seem to have a rapport. I do hope that the provider maintains some continuity with the care staff as it is important to build trust.

    Best wishes,
    Barry

Glad it went well Helen - it'll be nice to have company (and a natter) during what can be very long days.

Pink, hopefully you'll get sorted soon.

    Onwards & upwards girls

    Hi Newbie, Pinkelle and Ellie,
I have recently started with my 'ladies' too. I was terrified about the whole 'loo thing' but seeing as they are cool about it, it makes it so much easier for me.
However, the thing that has surprised me, as Ellie said, is that they are rapidly becoming 'friends'. One in particular, In fact we have even shared a weep too which means I can get it out of the way before family get back. An unexpected bonus!
And they are certainly helping to shape my day in a more interesting way.
Above all, I feel safer knowing one will be in 'soon'.
When I finally get my hoist fitted (meant to be last week), everything should be easier.

So pleased it's working out for you too Marigold. I felt exactly the same about the 'loo' thing.
Hope you get your hoists fitted soon x

    That's lovely to hear Marigold.

Nothing builds a bond like sharing a weep though I then can't chat until my eyes dry because eye gaze doesn't like tears - this also happens when I've tears of laughter, which happens lots more often than sad tears!

    Hope the hoist goes well.

I finally capitulated and got a hospital / profile bed this week!

    Love Ellie.
