    Problem with hoist

Wouldn't you know it? The morning of the first day of a four-day bank holiday weekend and my hoist has died. Oh, and no carers coming today. I rang the telephone number on the hoist but, of course, they are closed. Rang Social Services out-of-hours number but still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I'm sitting in my powered chair, getting increasingly uncomfortable and beginning to feel panicked about how my partner and I will cope when I need moving out of the chair. I'm wondering how long I should leave it before ringing Social Services again...

    Hi Gillette,

Forgive me for stating the obvious things to check!!!!

Is the emergency stop button pushed in?

Does it work if charger plugged in?

Can you find its user manual online and look for the troubleshooting section?

Long weekend - yep, Sod's Law

    Love Ellie.

    Hi Gillette;

I wonder if the hospice would have one you can borrow or anyone else like the red cross.

My one is easy to get wrong, I don't know why they are so complicated. Hope it's just a switch.

Thanks, all. The problem was sorted by the engineer this afternoon, thank goodness. It was the emergency button that had been pushed in. I didn't even know it had an emergency button! When it was delivered, they told that button was for checking how much charge was in the battery. I have to admit to feeling rather silly but I'm pleased that the engineer explained several points on the hoist.

So glad you're sorted Gillette.. I can only imagine your rising panic without your hoist. How awful for you!

Hope you manage to enjoy the rest of the sunny weekend.

Don't feel silly Gillette. It's not your fault that you were incorrectly told that it was a button to check the battery!

Its good to hear that the hoist has been checked by an engineer and it is working well now.

The engineer was probably pleased it was a straight forward to put right. Also, its probably handy that you know more about the workings of the hoist than you did before.

Hopefully you weren't uncomfortable in your chair for very long before the engineer arrived.

I hope you and your partner have an enjoyable weekend.

Haha, I like the idea of someone being intrigued by my user name! I don't often use this one.

    Thank you, everyone.
I was pleased to get the hoist sorted and, yes, I was panicking.
