    Accessible hotel rooms

    Hi everyone,

I shall be travelling to Southend-on-Sea some time in the next few weeks, staying for 2 or 3 nights in hotel accommodation. I need a wheelchair accessible room, plus a hoist and other equipment.

I have a mobile hoist that we can take with us but would need some other equipment which we cannot take with us. Is anyone able to help with any information, hints or tips in relation to the following, please?

    1. Hotels with accessible rooms.
    2. Whether those hotels are able to provide additional equipment.
    3. Any companies that loan or hire out disability equipment for a short term.
    4. Any websites that help with finding accessible rooms.

I would welcome any help or guidance please. I have been searching online but not had much success. Thank you.
    Dina

    HI Dina,

The Disabled Holidays website might have a couple of possibilities and the holiday company can also organise equipment:-

Also, the Southend Tourist board might be able to offer advice about suitable hotels:-

      Hi Kayleigh,

Thanks for the pointers. I had already looked on the Tourist Board site and was distinctly underwhelmed with the information on there. I shall look on the Disabled Holidays site.

            Hi Dina

            Check out chuc.org.uk
They have info on which hotels offer hoisting facilities/helpful aids.

              Hi Dina,

There is a Premier Inn in Southend which is listed on their website as having accessible rooms. You would probably need to contact the hotel to find out what facilities their accessible rooms include but there is some general 'disabled access' information on their website.

                  Hi Kayleigh,

Thanks for the Premier Inn link. I had looked at their website but wondered if there was anywhere else around. I also looked on the Travelodge website but it was a waste of time.
