    Flu vaccination

    Hi everyone,

I was reminded that it will soon be flu season when I went to my surgery yesterday. Most surgeries are starting the flu vaccination in September and it is important for those with MND and their carers have the vaccine.

    Best wishes,
    Barry
I’m going to do this even if it kills me!

    For the Newbies:

You should also get the PPV23 pneumococcal vaccine for community acquired bacterial pneumonia - it cannot offer protection against aspiration pneumonia.

It's a once off vaccine, unlike the annual flu jab, and can be given at the same time as the flu jab (usually in different arms!)

There were shortages of the PPV23 vaccine last year, which hopefully are long resolved...

    Love Ellie.

Thanks for the reminder Barry and the advice Ellie,

I had the flu vaccination last year but the pneumonia vaccination was not mentioned so I will make sure I get it this autumn.

      Love Debbie x
