Today’s good thing is sort of Christmas related. I get a huge amount of pleasure from giving family and friends presents that they love and enjoy. This morning I was able to do that for a very special friend who was thrilled with the present and said it was “unique”. I think it was a win all round.

I had squirrelled away some chocolate bars for Christmas Day but I can't find them. It could be that the men in my family have found them already and got tempted too soon - but I won't put them on Santa's naughty list yet - as I might have already caught the culprit on camera ..?? LOL ...

On Saturday a very good friend came around, she has come back from Singapore, and she gave me a pearl bracelet. It was such a lovely surprise and gave me a good lift.

How lovely of your friend to bring you such a special gift. I think that pearls always look very elegant and are great to wear with any outfit (just like the famous style icon Jackie Kennedy Onassis regularly did!).

I expect your friend was very glad to see you and very proud of you for being so brave, especially after your recent operation. It sounds like you are great friends and I hope you will be able to see each other again soon.

Yes, we are great friends have known each other since we were eleven. We see each quite often, she lives about 7 miles from me.

I am looking forward to my husband having the rest of this week off work and we also have family visiting us tomorrow afternoon.

I'm also looking forward to watching the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special tomorrow evening - probably with a cuppa and a few chocs (but after seeing how nuts are shelled in chocolate factories, I think I will stick to eating my favourite soft centred ones! LOL).

Hi everyone,

I wanted to keep up the thread, that Dina started because it seems it was really typical of her to celebrate the good things.

I was due for an MND clinic visit and also for a hospital visit to see the respiratory consultant because I developed a pulmonary embolism after a fall back in June. He arranged to come to the MND clinic so they could do tests and discuss treatment together. This excellent provision enabled me to see my MND consultant, the respiratory consultant, physio, OT , MND nurse and the wheelchair specialist team in one hospital visit. They discussed any treatment and I felt really involved in my care ( although exhausted by the end !)

The even better news is that my respiratory tests were fine so I can stop the daily blood thiinning injections and we had the lovely wheelchair technician to our home to add some padding to my powerchair to make it more comfortable.

Dear Debbie,

Thank you for kindly sharing your good news. I've had a bit of post-Christmas blues but your message on this thread today has cheered me up and reminded me that, although Dina is sadly no longer with us, her positive energy will always live on.

Seeing all those people at hospital must have been tiring but great that your tests went well and you don't need to make a separate hospital visit for them to be carried out.

Glad your wheelchair is nice and comfy and the wheelchair technician was able to kit it out at your home. I find appointments at home are far less tiring and much less stressful than at hospital!

I miss Dina and I think it's lovely that you posted your good news on this thread that she started. I expect she would be delighted if we could carry on with this thread in her memory. It will be a fitting tribute to how she encouraged people to make the most of every day and we will also be continuing her wish for this thread to be a way of giving hope that there are still happy occasions and aspects of our lives that are to be celebrated.

In honour of Dina I also post celebrating the good things. We are currently enjoying a weekend break at a Warner’s hotel in Cheshire. This break is ideal for people with disabilities and it lifts my spirit to see like minded people enjoying themselves despite their disability. I get sad when I see the people dancing as it was this that brought us together but my wife was happy to join others on the dance floor.

Shoulder improving

I hope I’m not tempting fate by speaking too soon but, after the third Steroid/painkiller injection, the pain in my left shoulder is beginning to ease. It will be such a relief to be free of it.

I know Dina would be delighted that we’re still posting on this thread. As Kayleigh rightly said, she encouraged people to make the most of every day, as she always did.
