Vicky, if someone can't answer your question, I do know that iPhones (& most smart phones) can be set to automatically answer, if that's of any use to your dad.

Any suggestions as to a voice activated way that my dad could answer his mobile phone?

We have a google home but this only allows him to make calls by voice and Siri on iPhone does the same

Everything requires some pressing of a button but he can’t do this anynorw
