Speech to text apps for iPad

Hi all

I am rapidly losing movement in my arms and dexterity in my hands.

My iPad is what keeps me sane so I’m after some advice on what apps are available to convert speech into text for emails, posts on forum, Facebook and in documents.

My voice is getting weaker so I don’t know how well an app might work.

Any advice or tips would be most welcome.

Hi Dina,

Don't think Siri has enough functionality for you?

Check if your iPad iOS version has Voice Control - check in Settings --> Accessibility to see if it's there.

If it is, switch it On and see how you go.

If your iOS version doesn't have it, IDK if it's available as an update but there are free Apps in the Apple Store for something like Voice Assist Pro.

I'm a confirmed Windows OS girl myself, so know very little about iOS - hoefully someone with iOS expertise will have better info for you.

The Dictation facility on Word works well, not that I can use it or my PC's voice control, but the kids have used it.

I’ve got Acapela software, having banked my voice recently, which my community team arranged for me. I have it on my laptop (Windows) and it’s really good. While I’m waiting for a tablet to use it on I’m using the IOS Speak Selection function (as Ellie mentioned), which I quite like. I’m also using the Text To Sporch app on my iPhone, which is ok too. Just play around with the voices. I find not getting intonations and emphasis as I want them is frustrating but hey, it’s better than nothing right?! :-)
