    Personal Private Communication

Hi all .. For those that have lost their speech and would like their conversation kept private /on a one to one / or perhaps in a building that requires silence .. there could be lots of reasons and places for its use.. instead of the voice coming from a tablet / ipad get one of these .. A Headphone Splitter .. two people can attach their own head set .. type away .. hit speak and the voice only comes through the head sets .. I tried this out today in a coffee shop with my friend ..nobody knew we were communicating to each other ... Must say it was fun ..plus it certainly does not look out of place with so many using phones etc ... might not be of interest to everyone but thought I would share .. dvd

One of the good things about a lightwriter is that it has two screens and you can communicate to deaf people or just keep you conversation private by only letting the one person see it.

You could use blue tooth head phones or ear pieces as well.

TB once said that "The forum is still the best source for friendship and information."

It will only remain so if new people post and keep us updated on things that work or don't work and tips.

Please post on old threads that are of use so that others see them and feel free to start new subjects and threads.

Hi Terry .. It is a personal preference in the end what type of communication the person wants to invest in and their capabilities of its use .. This system that I have mentioned works for my friend .. He feels comfortable with it especially outdoors as it is just a Tablet like everone else is usuing all around him and it draws no attention due to its size of being half an inch deep and a mere 7 inches in height , and fits in your pocket plus he has the choice to write on it with his finger, pen, or use the speech App by typing ..listening with or without the head set ..
The more communication aids that are mentioned on the forum this will give people with speech problems a greater choice as what to go for .. dvd

Hi SueB .. I bought the Splitter for £1.50 so it did not break the bank just to have total privacy when communicating outdoors ..

I had never heard of that and am really gripped. I can still make myself understood for now but it could be very handy during meals when my voice tends to deteriorate while I eat. I need to investigate.
