    SL40 Lightwriter's

    They might be old steam age tech but they do have advantages and disadvantages over I Pad's and tablets.

    I have used the SL40 for about five year and have used the standard one and the "Connect" one.

    If you have problems (as I think they do have a couple of glitches) with it or would like to delete words. Know how to store words or complete sentences and say them by just typing a few letters and other things.

    I might be able to help you, well I will try.

    So any little thing, please ask or post your comments about using the SL40 lightwrter's

    Love Terry

    Hi Terry,
    I have SL40 light writer, but gave up on it, I don't understand the instruction book. (You know how un technical I am)
    I paid for the predictable, but I keep using the 'speak it'. I type with one finger and fast at it, and because speak corrects the words, that suits me at this time. When I have to slow down, I can use predictable, and press the predictive words. And of course I will use the light writer then, I think it's great when you type fast. But I'm sure I don't know half of what it does. I may ask for your help in the near future, my ST doesn't know much about it either. Thank you Terry.

        Hi Reta,

        Does your salt know much about them and does your husband use a computer type device?

          Hi a lightwriter is like a mini mini typewriter about 6in x 4 x3. I trialled one but found it a bit cumbersome to take out in my handbag. The advantage over an iPad are that as one types the message is being shown to the recipient thru a window on the back. This can be a disadvantage if you are saying something you don't want others to see!! They are hugely expensive to buy but I chose an iPad in the end with the Predictable app. and this is slimmer and I can use for emails. I bought the iPad the NHS bought the app. Ihope this helps.             Hi Grannieannie;

            Lightwriters have many advantages and disadvantages over I Pad's and tablets. The weight of these is a disadvantage but they can have carrying handles, straps and mounts to make them easier. It certainly won't slid into many ladies handbags, I had to get a bigger handbag

            The front screen, like many things on the Lightwriter can be changed. By pressing "menu" and then "4", you get to what is called a second conversation. This allows you to type and say things without it showing on the front facing screen. It also leaves your first conversation showing so you can be showing on the front screen, "you are wonderful" but actual type and say something completely different.

            Have the ability to switch from one conversation to another is so useful, as you can return to one subject after the subject has changed whilst you were typing

              Hi Terry

              Obviously I didn't have a very good teach in, should have talked to you first before I binned it.
              I'm into handbags and have a fuschia pink one if it would be any good to you! Love Ann. xxxx
