This is another alternative for those of us who can't speak on the phone but can send a text to emergencysms.org.uk

The emergencySMS service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired people in the UK send an SMS text message to the UK 999 service where it will be passed to the police, ambulance, fire rescue, or coastguard.
Simply by sending an SMS message to 999 you can call for help and the emergency services will be able to reply to you. You just need to register your mobile phone. This is free service.

It has given me peace of mind that if something happens to my husband or if I am alone, I can still get help.

Hi Miranda ... I have actually downloaded it and tested it out ..Must say very impressed ..Also thought it would also be good for anyone young or old that is out late at night and got into some sort of danger ..No dialing to do just press the button on the screen and it goes through to the named person who you signed up during set up ..
As I said I tested it with two people added as the receiver of alert calls ..Hit the button on Michaels phone ..Seconds later I got a call to say Michael needs help press one if you can assist or 2 if you can't .. I could have pressed 1 but decided to press 2 to see if the other person would receive a call ..The other person received their call a few seconds later after I pressed 2 ..
You can add as many people as you wish to receive the alert call ..
