    Eyegaze

Yesterday I had my first demonstration of Eyegaze using the Tobii eye tracker system.

    Amazing technology!

Clearly it will take a lot of practice to become proficient, but I can see a future.

Ellie - what dwell time do you use, please?

    hugs

Great that you had a chance to use eye gaze Doug - go you 🤩

I use a dwell time of 700ms, that suits me and, remember I don't use Grid software. xx

Doug Carpenter I'm just wondering Doug if you found the dwell time too fast or too slow in your demo?

And did they say they would give you one soon enough? 😘😘

        Hi Ellie

I got them to reduce the dwell time from 1.5 to 1 second and I feel even shorter would be possible with practice. but now I have to wait for a few weeks.

I don't intend to use the Gridpad software either - just word and excel I hope.

Do you know of any useful tutorial videos on, say, YouTube?

        hugs

Did the tablet in the demo have Microsoft products such as Word and Excel, or if not, did you ask/tell for them to be included on the device you get?

Eye trackers (the hardware) cannot control the device without mouse emulation software, which is Grid 3 in your case, so you'll have to use it - and this brings me back to whether or not those you'll have the products installed, if that makes sense? xx

Doug, the videos I found are pretty basic, none go into computer control in any depth. I found this webinar presentation, not a tutorial, geared more towards providers than end users, but it shows more of the Grid's capabilities than any other video I watched.

It's pretty dry, some of it will be irrelevant to you, and the presenter isn't using eye gaze (that doesn't make any difference to its functionality) but it gives a real feel of functionality.

Apologies in advance for asking you to watch it 😏😘

Sorry Ellie. I didn't understand that cursor control was part of Grid 3. I thought that referred to the big buttons like Web, messages , mail etc.

The Eyegaze was demoed on my computer by plugging the illuminator/camera bar along the bottom edge of the screen. I have already loaded MS Word and EXCEL.

THanks for searching out that useful video.

sorry to be brief. Still using failing fingers on oversize keyboard.

              Hugs

And they downloaded some mouse emulation software onto your PC, so you had onscreen controls for Left Click, Right Click, Scroll etc. ??

That was through grid 3 I think.
