    Selling items

How about more people advertise things for sale that would benefit others.

So I am not prepared to wait months for speech help via the usual channels.

This forum really helped. With Ellie previous posts of tobii products I am now in possession on a 2nd hand system. All I need to do is buy a new device.

On ebay in America there are loads of used AAC devices for sale but here in the UK not alot. In fact none.

However I did a search on this forum and found one saving myself well over a £1000.

wouldn't it be good to maybe give away or sell items that are no longer used?

I donated a headset to mnda for voice banking.

Maybe a sub heading for it.

        Hi all,

Just thought it was worth flagging that in our forum guidelines it states:

"The forum should never be used for commercial purposes. For instance, posting an advert for a second-hand wheelchair for a private sale is acceptable but sharing links to websites or businesses is not permitted."

So whilst we have no problem if you want to start a thread sharing/selling items that belong to you and no longer need to other members, we would prefer it if you don't just use the thread to link to various business sites. Hope that makes sense.

        Thanks,

        Forum Admin.

          Hi adminMND,
Many people on this forum ask for advise on equipment etc and members respond by saying where they bought the item from.
Obviously members will go to the various sites suggested to see if an item might be suitable. Is this not allowed anymore?..?.Or is it “we would PREFER it if you don’t just use the thread to link to various business sites”..

Being disabled is costly so members often respond with thanks for their advise.I for one have appreciated the information on what items have helped other and the links to various business sites.
          Thanks
          Mary x

Mary C I'm not speaking for Admin_MND Mary, but there has never been an issue when we, as genuine users, post about a genuine product we have found useful and link to where it's available. We are not actively promoting a business interest but it must be a grey area (and a headache for Admin) at times, so it's good to seek clarification.

Of course, that is different to what Shelly posted about, which is 2nd hand items. xx

Personally I've looked at various web sites for products that may help me in some way following tips in the forum. From gadgets to help me open jars and companies supplying wheelchairs. I think in theory that should be ok...genuine forum members who have tried the products. (As Ellie said). I think that's very different from having a vested interest in a company. Yes a difficult one for MNDA however I'd hate to lose that valuable source of information.

shelly21 idea of selling 2nd hand items is a good idea IMO....although any transaction can run into 'difficulties'....however we're all adults and it should be manageable.

                Hi Mary C,

                Thanks for your question.

It is this option “we would PREFER it if you don’t just use the thread to link to various business sites." As Ellie mentions it can be quite a headache for us to manage as we are unable to check links that are shared and verify they are suitable. We hope that helps clear up the situation.

We are very aware that occasionally we can have spam user accounts come onto the Forum and they will often share business links with no experience or reference point, we want to avoid this.

We are all for the idea of selling and sharing 2nd hand options and opening up that conversation between you all.

                Many thanks,

                Forum Admin,
