Electric riser loos

Anyone used or had experience with electric riser loos

Not heard of riser loo.I have bio bidet wash and drier seat but other members have Clos o mat toilets that wash and dry.

I am interested to hear more about the electric riser loo though.

That's the second time today there's a question about powered riser loos. I wrote this reply on the other thread:

Re the powered toilet lift: you might be lucky and get good use from it or you might spend a couple of grand on it and only get a couple of weeks use from it, unfortunately it's impossible to say... It also depends on which form of MND you have and your rate of progression as to its potential benefit and longevity.

I'm conscious this is my response to your first post and I don't really want to frighten the pants of you but... our balance tends to go quite early on and we can topple over for no apparent reason, so the thoughts of anyone using that seat riser fills me with fear, quite frankly.

Your OT should assess you and provide equipment to help you live life safely - maybe a shower chair/commode which goes over the loo and a standing hoist or patient turner.

if you haven't already done so, contact your OT and see what they will provide, then perhaps it'll be easier to make a decision about the powered toilet lift.

Many thanks for replies. Robert has a washer drier loo. He is very tall and quite unsteady so just been looking at how eventually we will manage the loo thing. Must admit didn’t think about the shower chair commode.

I agree with Ellie’s suggestion of asking the OT.As I deteriorate the OT has provided equipment and advise for getting on toilet, coping with mobility issues etc.
My latest gadget is a mini rope ladder which fits at foot of my bed and I can pull on it to get from lying to sitting.
Then there is the handle gadget that fits on our car door which gives me the leverage to pull up from wheelchair to do a transfer.

I just a small doohicky attached to the side of my bed. It's a handle that has changed my life. All thanks to my physiotherapist. 😉😁😘😍xx
