Olivia I found the grid pad help team very good. I would call them put them on speaker so Ann could hear. They were incredibly patient. If we couldn’t get it they took control of the screen to show us. Oh I should say we didn’t use eye gaze, don’t know if that makes a difference

Accessing the forum isn't the problem, the lady has a button to click which brings her straight to the forum. It's using the forum itself that's the issue. xx

So if she wanted to click a topic it makes her click across every possible hyperlink and then down so it takes her ages just to get to one thing that she wants to look at.

If you both were looking for the same topic Liv, would the website itself behave differently for your mum as it would for you?

I'm trying to understand better how she is using the forum so I, and other forum users can help her to navigate it better, so she doesn't feel like pulling out her hair in frustration 😱😱

Does she use the search function ?
Does she login so the forum remembers what she has previously read? To that end, for example, by clicking on an icon on an individual thread, she is directed to unread posts only, so doesn't have to read through pages of previously read posts.

I've been using this version of the forum since day 1 and am more than willing to help your mum to become a regular, and confident, user of the forum. If I knew one example of what steps your mum needed to take to "click a topic", I'd hope I'd be able to give her helpful tips.

My lack of knowledge with IT frustrates me.Not having shown must interest in computers except for work, Facebook, emails I now find I don’t have the skills I would benefit from.

Still trying to get to grips with Predictable 6 App slowly.I will try and plod on as it will be my means of communication when my voice goes.

Hi Ellie, thanks for your message. Yes she uses grid pad 3 and they did set up an Internet page that had the forum on, but it's more the problem of using the forum. So if she wanted to click a topic it makes her click across every possible hyperlink and then down so it takes her ages just to get to one thing that she wants to look at. Whereas when she uses Facebook app or WhatsApp she can navigate it really easily.

Liv, I presume your mum uses Grid3 software on the GridPad?

We were told there wasn't an app for this forum for her machine so mum hasn't been accessing the forum at all.

Is there Google Chrome quick access set up, i.e., an icon which opens Google search? It is possible to make a grid set for any website, including this forum, name it so and she only needs to look at (click on) it for it to open. Support in Think SmartBox can do this.

When I questioned it, they showed me that she could access the forum using the Internet but to get through the forum she had to click through HUNDREDS of hyperlinks just to read one message so she didn't see that as an option.

How did you access Google and how did you find and access the forum? Could you screenshot one of those hyperlinks, it might help other Grid3 users say Yes or No it happened to them and offer a fix.

There are a number of GridPad users here so hopefully they can set you right. Sounds like a nightmare for your poor mum... xx
