Toto bed?

The new care agency has suggested that Chris should get a Toto bed, it alters your position in the bed.
Has anyone any experience of one?

I've never used a turning mattress, only alternating air mattresses.

Does Chris have pressure sores/potential sores which prompted the carer to suggest a ToTo mattress?

I think an important question is, at over £2000, who will fund it...

If he is deemed to be at high risk of developing pressure areas, he should be given an appropriate mattress - what's he on in the hospice? xx

Thanks for replying Ellie. Chris has the alternate air mattress at home and sleeps on a super duper one at the hospice. He likes to sleep on his side as he has a really really bad curvature in his spine. Trouble is his hips then hurt and he needs turned.
The care agency want two carers at night unless he gets a Toto bed, they are asking the OT's.

In that case, the mattress will pay for itself in about 2 weeks, makes economic sense. xx

Lol. So the toto is in. Dont think its for me. However those who cannot move and lay on their backs I do think its good.

I can still get out of bed aided by grab bar and can get onto my wheelchair to visit the tiolet without waking my partner.

However if the toto is tilted up on the side I exit the bed I can't get out.

I think it would really help those carers who have to manually turn their partners etc.

I think I will send it back so it can be used for someone more of need for it.

So I will now be asking trial the air mattresses.

I could see me benefitting from a Toto if I hadn't aced out on my air mattress and I'll definitely keep it in mind.

However if the toto is tilted up on the side I exit the bed I can't get out.

That makes total sense.
