    Mobile Hoist

My OT has ordered a mobile hoist and when it arrives she’s going to show Steve and my daughter how to operate it. My daughter can’t come frequently. It’s just to fill the two person criteria. I’m going to operate the controller and Steve do the moving. I hope that I can keep doing that up until my ceiling hoists are installed and carers are assigned but that could be a couple of months. The biggest problem with using a mobile hoist is our small flat. I don’t know how it’s going to work out xx

    That's great news Lynne 👍👍

Do you know if it's a standing hoist or full body hoist?

It can stay across your bed when not in use - you got the bed with room for the hoist legs, didn't you? xx

Ellie sorry, I haven’t got a clue. My OT didn’t state that there were options but I’ll message her to ask.

Also, the liquid food that ordered, both arrived today. I won’t have them until my catheter is in as they’re milk shake type. I’ll have a job getting l used to anything like that. I’ve never fancied milk shakes.

The vegan one you make up with your preferred milk substitute. Mine is oat milk. We haven’t got any in so it’ll go on Steve’s online shopping list. The other meal substitute is all in but it has to be made up to 550ml that’s close to a pint. I wouldn’t drink a pint of anything so maybe I’ll have half portions in between meals.

My daughter is bringing liquidised lamb scouse between 4 and 5 for tonight xx

I had to Google lamb scouse - sounds lovely, well not the lamb as I'm vegetarian, but the rest of it.

        Enjoy xx

Hi Lynne K . Im so glad you've got that sorted for your peace of mind.

Mine is a full body portable hoist and Stuart can manage it on his own as I have enough arm movement to operate the buttons. Although I have no leg movement at all I can move my body to get the sling on. We don't use it all the time but its there for when we need it.

It does take up room however because the " feet " are so big so in the long run a ceiling hoist might be better

            Hugs to you xx😘🤗

Deb thanks Deb. I can still weight bear on my legs and have some hand control so we can do the same as you and Stuart do. I agree that ceiling hoists are much better for small spaces and for single person operation. I can know how we’ll manage with a portfolio hoist in our tiny flat but we’ll have to try. Steve will need to move things xx

Then a standing hoist would be suitable for you Lynne, whilst waiting for your ceiling hoist to be fitted, they're a bit neater than the full hoists. xx
