    Environmental Control

Hi all, hope everyone is well.

I have the local environment control team contacting me in a week or so and I was wondering what sort of things they can offer but also what anyone else may have found really useful?

I use a smartbox gridpad via a head mouse which I have managed to get working the sky TV and I use the voice to tell Alexa off every now and then.

I'm really interested in what else might be available.

    thanks in advance

Environmental control team have made it possible for me to control the following from my iPhone via a Housemate device - rise and recline chair, living room tv, Sky Q box, hospital bed, bedroom tv, Sky mini box, two plug in lights. Very useful. I didn’t know what might be possible either before their visit

thanks Peter that's a really interesting piece of kit. I would love to use an ipad as my communication device but I can only have a windows device from the local communication aid service.

        Hi Rich,

Hi all, Attached is a picture of me using my iPad pro and Integramouse+ set up at home. The Integramouse is a mouth controlled mini joystick that you move with your lips, you also ‘sip’ and ‘puff’ into it for left click and right click. The mouse connects by USB to the iPad and you will need an adapter to allow the use of the

Integramouse+ was supplied to me by my local team

….and also voice control for my bed:

Hi all, For the last couple of years I have been building up my home automation technology and other associated gadget items. I have always been a fan of tech and when I started to lose the use of my limbs I was able to compensate for some of this with the use of various electronic devices. Because I still have speech they are

              Talk Pad - thinksmartbox.com

which I would be really interested in!

blimey, not at all the subject I thought it would be; although I would have been at a loss working out why the forum subject would be about environmental factors!

well thanks for everyone input I had some great ideas. Unfortunately the Bedfordshire environmental control team consists of one lovely lady and nothing in the way of resources.

the only thing that I asked about which could be possible was adjusting my rise recliner but that is apparently contra indicated because I might somehow accidentally recline my chair and choke on my own saliva?

I don't know how she thinks I sleep each night - presumably standing upright?!

                    richcrocker That's disappointing/frustrating/downright annoying 😟

Was the lady from an dedicated assistive technology service? xx

PS: yes, how are you waking up every morning? 😉😍

Ellie she was the entire bedfordshire NHS team. She was lovely and meant well but ultimately not the saviour I'd been led to expect!

I am, luckily I'm a bit of a geek so I'm relishing the challenge of sorting it out. Learnt how to programme grid 3, got Alexa behaving herself and hive heating hue lights and anything else wifi enabled!
