    Freeway M150 hoist

    Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone uses a Freeway M150 hoist? Did they provide you with a spare battery?

Although as carers we were given training on how to use the hoist, it didn't come with a manual. This morning the machine beeped. When I looked online that's a sign that the battery is low, which made no sense as the hoist is always plugged in when not in use. I did some further Googleing and it appears the battery may have come to the end of it's life. Now waiting for the out of hours line to answer.

Just wanted to know if others were provided a spare battery to avoid this scenario?

    Many thanks

No idea if this is your issue, it's just a thought: if the emergency stop button is pressed IN when charging, the battery won't charge.

When a hoist is not in use and *not charging*, the emergency stop button should be pressed in to stop the battery leaching power. xx

Thanks Ellie I went through all the online troubleshoot options. I've checked the emergency button, it's definitely out.

Thanks for the tips for when not in use and not charging.

After my my first call got disconnected after being on hold for an hour, I finally got through. Now waiting for engineer (who I hope carries a spare) to call and let me know what their ETA is.

It always goes wrong on the weekend. Hey ho 🤷🏾‍♀️

Is it plugged in and 'charging' now? Don't suppose there are lights/markers indicating if battery is full, half-full or empty?

Yes, these things never seem to happen at 11am on a Wednesday, do they, just surprised it's not a bank holiday weekend 😁

Hopefully you'll soon be up and running. xx

The amber charge light disappears after a few minutes of being plugged in which then made me think it was fully charged.

But it beeped this morning, which I learnt was the low battery level. I plugged it in thinking it was charging. But the amber light disappeared. On further research online if the amber light disappears straight after plugging in then there's a charging issue or the battery is at the end of it's life.

The battery image symbol isn't solid, it's filled with tiny dots, again I'm assuming it's running low, as I've never taken notice of it and there aren't any images to compare to in the online manual.

Still waiting on engineer to call 🤞🏽 cause this would be the day we give mum a laxative 🤦🏽‍♀️

So the technician came. Replaced the battery. Gave us a charger for the old battery, which says it's fully charged🤷🏾‍♀️, at least we have a spare now (silver lining and all that)

He basically said if the alarm persists with the new battery to ask for a replacement hoist. That will be tomorrow's tasks.

            Thanks for your suggestions Ellie

Still, you both could have done without all that palaver 😏

If it does come to that, perhaps ask for a like-for-like replacement or, if it's a different hoist, make sure the sling is compatible - loops or rings.

              Thanks for the update. xx
