Hi sorry to hear about your dad, I receive carers allowance for my husband, as I am the prim carer, which you will be. We also have carers every day. You are also right this be deducted from his PIP. We have found this to be ok.

Carers allowance - is it worth claiming?
Hello All
My dad has recently been diagnosed and I will be giving up work and plan to be his carer. However I've heard carers allowance is deducted from your PIP payment so all balances out, is this correct? Also if I become his carer does this limit us to using NHS carers and other services? I've never been a carer before and want my Dad to receive the best care possible, I know they are the professionals and may do a better job than I will. I will give up work regardless to be there every day with him but just want the best care for my Dad.
