    Anyone Ex-Armed Forces

    Hi Everyone

My Dad, just diagnosed, is Ex-RAF, served 22 years, been out for 10 years now. He plans to continue working (albeit from home) for as long as possible (mainly for his own sanity, but also to keep a decent amount of money coming in).

From talking to SSAFA it seems that he'll only get help if he stops working and any help that's potentially available now is means tested......

Is there any help (care/financial) that he might be entitled to that I potentially haven't considered? Sorry that's a bit vague (I'm feeling a bit vague right now). I'll answer any questions to help narrow it down....

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is the main one. I presume that he's got a pension from his service, that may prohibit access to means tested social security benefits / Disabled Facility Grants. There's a couple of good threads on here ref financial assistance though. Would recommend talking to local hospice or CAB to get assistance completing any applications for assistance. MNDA local brnches are very good at assisting with a whole range of stuff, from advice to financial support. Also, is there an ex-service benevolent fund?

      Thanks G60dubber

He's applying for DLA, I'm pushing him (gently) to see the CAB, will look for an MNDA local branch.

There's an RAF benevolent fund but night on impossible to get money out of them
