    WAV- Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle

Good morning. I am looking for advice on a WAV. I tried to search the site using WAV and got the message “Your criteria is not restrictive enough and might return too many results. Please restrict your criteria and try again.”

Any help and advice on a WAV gratefully received. Thanks

richard There is a 4 character minimum requirement in the Search Box, which is a real shame as acronyms such as WAV, PEG, RIG, NIV etc not only are commonly used terms by us, but also require much typing!

Try searching keywords such as Motability or Vehicle, for example, and you'll find some threads on WAVs.

      Hi Richard,

Whilst you may not be looking for a Motability vehicle their website is easy to use and very informative regarding dimensions and accessibility. They also have a link to the What Car site which offers reviews. www.motability.co.uk

        Hi Richard,

Our motability WAV is a Peugeot Horizon. Allied mobility is the dealership and they have been great with servicing at our home and initially visiting for us to try out vehicles.

I drive my powerchair into the back. Originally we did not want the seats taken out so I could drive into the front as it restricts passengers and we used to take my mum out and give our kids a lift.. It's also quite expensive to adapt. However if I was getting another one I would definitely want to sit upfront . You can get adapted second hand ones. Sitting in the back is quite isolating and as I am high up I can't see properly out of the windows. Of course, we can't take passengers at the moment due to Covid.

Good Luck as there is such alot of choice.

i recently researched WAVs, looked at second hand ones, but decided a nearly new one with Motability was the better option.

I went for the Peugeot Horizon on a 3 year lease , with the payments being taken from the PIP.

My MND is quite advanced and the vehicle can be handed back at any time should I pass away in the lease period. This I think is a real benefit.

          Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the information. I shall look at the Horizon.
