Hi All,
I am living with my brother who has MND diagnosed in 2016, he now needs 24hr care. I had to have major fights with the CCG, but after 5 months of struggling, getting social workers, Consultant, Hospice staff and GP involved, I have managed to get him 24hr carers which has been such a blessing because I also have to care for my elderly mother who has dementia and epilepsy and I work as a registered nurse.....so full on!!!!
I am looking for a builder who is able to do disable adaptations. (My advice to MND sufferers and carers that is thinking of do renovations is TO DO IT!!!) I wish I had not listened to the hospice staff who said 'you need to think very carefully about doing this'.....this put doubts in my mind and 2 years on, things are much worst, more unsafe and we have lockdowns to contend with!
We have planning permission for a 4 meter extension, and despite contacting 5 builders, only 1 have got back to me with a quote.
I have just found out yesterday that some of this work is eligible for tax exemption, so will have to go back to that builder to clearly explain which parts of the build is tax exempt.
I did go down the route of getting a grant but the council has been so unhelpful and my brother and mum getting weaker that I have no choice but to press on as best I can,
My question:
Does anyone have any experience going through this zero tax work and able to advise me how to negotiate this when communicating with builders.
Also can any recommend some builders to do this renovation. I live in North West London area....nearest landmark....15 minutes from Wembley!!!
