    Disabled Facilities Grant

Has anyone living in the Birmingham area had experience of dealing with Birmingham City Council over a DFG application? My issue is that although I have been led to believe that the council will award me a DFG they havent stated how much it will be, and they will only agree to fund the cheapest option which means I would have to travel through 4 sets of doors to get from the downstairs bedroom to the wet room. Thinking ahead this isnt likely to be practical when I need a hoist.

    Hello Ian.
if you aren’t already hooked up with the MND Association area support coordinator who covers Birmingham it might be a good idea to make contact. They might have the kind of knowledge you are after or at least give you a steer. I can PM you her contact details if you want

I was financially assessed at first because I am still in work. I was turned down straight away.

I sent a email to my mp and then I was reassessed and they have accepted it. My authority will do work upto 30k

Good result Ian, not that you should have had to go through that palaver to get what's right... xx
