    Accessible accommodation

I don't know if its been shared already but on Facebook there is a page dedicated to accessible accommodation.

Found some great places with hoist into hottub etc. For a water baby like me it's fab.

Holidays, day trips and travelling when you have accessibility needs or special needs can feel overwhelming and daunting. Too many people don't venture far from their homes because of this worry....

We’ve been looking for accessible accommodation but not seen this, thanks. We recently had a couple of nights at a Warner break. The room was excellent and very easy to negotiate. Swimming pool was equipped with a hoist. Bit pricey but it included meals and entertainment.

      Hi, I'm Eddie.
Started with wobbly left ankle in Nov 2020. Diagnosed 22 Oct 2021, confirmed by 2nd opinion 4 days later.
Full time powerchair user. Overnight NIV. PEG'ed but still eating. Voice banked but still talking.
Still wondering what the future will bring.

shelly21 this is one of the things I love about the forum. Your post prompted me to share this great villa we used a few times in Spain. It’s owned by a couple who have a disability business in the UK.

it’s two bedroom. One has a double profile bed the other twin profile beds. The lounge has a riser recliner chair and a lowered breakfast bar.

Fully adapted bathroom including shower chair.

The pool is heated with a hoist.

There is also a range of aides available for free use e.g. rollator.

        Aircon is also installed.

All areas are accessible by power chair.

shelly21 Have you found anywhere nice to stay in the UK for a weekend or week break, fully accessible and ideally no more than a couple of hours drive outside London?? Would love any recommendations! Thanks.

Just spent the weekend staying here in Major's Lodge. Very well set up. I hired a hospital bed and pressure relieving mattress (from a local company) for the weekend. They also offer hire of hoists.

Tabbycat I thought, hey up, Watatunga is an unusual name for a nature reserve located in the wilds of Norfolk so, Elsie being Elsie, I had to find out.

                If anyone is wondering where the name means;

"Our name, Watatunga, is a portmanteau of one of our more exotic African antelope, the Sitatunga, and the wonderful village of Watlington, where the reserve is based. The literal meaning in Swahili is ‘we compose’ – we think it’s a great word to roll around as it’s hard to say ‘Watatunga’ with a frown."

I have laying here today thinking about trying to get my children together for a break. So its well timed.

I don't have facebook so couldn't access the link. Is there a screen shot of some of the names of the places?

The link is an internet address, not a Facebook link so not sure why you can't open it?

Yes I click on it, then it asks for login details. I suppose if I was on Facebook it would take me straight in.

Then at the top of the page there is an accessible accom' thingy for Facebook.

Its all the excitement about the potential of getting out.
