    Travel Insurance

My husband has just been turned down for travel insurance by Avanti - they suggested I try cancer care. When I pointed out he didn’t have cancer I was asked what was wrong with him!! Are there any travel insurance companies that have an understanding of MND and will insure? Thanks in advance. Lynne

If you type travel insurance in the search box you will pull several threads on the subject. Have copied one of several endorsements for all clear insurance.

I had a policy with Just Travel and it was a fortune. About £1000 for two weeks travel in the USA. I then heard about All Clear who wanted only £400 for ……………. an annual policy. MND was of course fully disclosed to both companies. As I hadn’t travelled at that stage I went back to Just Travel and asked to cancel. They wanted to know why as it was non cancelable. I said you know I have MND, I don’t want to discuss it but I shan’t be needing your insurance. I was refunded in full 😂

Anyway my recommendation is All Clear who seem to be very good.

Thanks. I think the problem is when they ask if it is terminal. My understanding is that MND is terminal (this is what we were told when given the diagnosis) does this mean we can’t get travel insurance as it appears to be the case ( also turned down by All Clear)

All sorted. Insured with Free Spirit for a reasonable price for both of us. The problem was my understanding of terminal (end of life/palliative care). Thanks for your help 👍

              Glad youve got sorted Lynne11013

We have an annual travel insurance policy with All clear. When I renew it they ask if my condition is terminal and I say it's life limiting. I'm not sure what the difference is although terminal implies it's more imminent I suppose.

              Enjoy your travels x 😘🤗

Mum died with MND in 1979 – My sister and I have a wonky gene, probably inherited from mum. Reckon my MND started sometime in 2018.

We used worldwide insurance when we went to Australia in March.

I tried and tried to get travel insurance and I was denied by everyone…must be a Canadian insurance thing 😑☹️

We just gave up on the idea of travel. By the time things opened up for travelling, I didn’t feel able to enjoy the experience.

I didn’t look that hard for insurance but the few I did try were a no. Most likely a Canadian insurance thing.

                            It's so easy travel insurance,
the disease is terminal but we don't have terminal diagnosis as everyones prognosis is different.
we're off cruising again in two weeks!

I got my travel insurance for my last and next holidays from payingtoomuch.com. I still checked with other providers including allclear but stuck with my insurer as they always seem to cover more for less.
My last holiday was to the US and the insurance cost around £300 for two of us with medical conditions, my next holiday is a cruise and the insurance cost £588 for three of us with medical conditions and specific cruise cover.
                              Hope that’s helpful.
