      Hi CC,

Perhaps Elvis had British citizenship as well??? - that's if the person working in the chip shop wasn't lying to Kirsty McColl, after all?? LOL ...

Elvis might have secretly fallen in love with British food and liked it so much that he decided to move to England and work in a Fish & Chip takeaway? LOL ... and I wouldn't blame him if he had preferred British style chips to American style fries - I think chips from the chip shop are great, especially with lots of salt and vinegar and dipped in ketchup!

I'm not sure if you can get British style chips in the USA? -,and if I was to ask for chips, I think I might be given a bag of what we call crisps.

I'm a fan of Elvis, his music and his movies. I'm not surprised that, as well as being known as 'The King', he also had the nickname 'Elvis the Pelvis' - and it looks like he was very talented at pole dancing too!!!......

      Elvis Parsley LOL

      - Why did Elvis end up with Pepsi all over him?
Unfortunately, the can he opened was all shock up! LOL

        Hi Kayleigh

Our chips are potato chips. I've never had British chips here so don't know what that would be ??

We dip or French fries in ketchup, and we do have salt and vinegar potato chips in fact we every kind of potato chip imaginable.

I actually don't eat either one, our French fries to greasy and our potato chips to salty, but would love to taste your British Fish & Chips when I make over to your country it will be the first British food I would like to try.

          Hi CC,

Our chips are much chunkier than fries (or french fries) and it is a popular tradition for people to eat fish & chips at the seaside.

... and talking of fish and traditions, 'Fisherman's Friends' is a Cornish group who sing traditional sea-shanties and folk songs .....

            Hi Kayleigh

What kind of fish do you use for fish and chips ?

We have fish and chips too, usually cod, flounder or tilapia is used, dipped in a batter and fried. Most places serve it with French fries or potato chips.

Do you have fried calamari in your country? One of my very favorites, they look like rings served with marinara sauce on the side, so delicious but must be cooked just right to be soft and tender, if undercooked or overcooked too rubbery and too difficult to chew

Those guys look like real seamen, are they, or just a band singing by the ocean ??

One of my favorite sea songs xox

              Hi CC,

What a beautiful song! I woke up fairly earlier this morning and listening to the song about Brandy was a lovely way to start the day.

The Fisherman's Friends are a real singing group who live in Port Isaac - a Fishing Village in Cornwall. They are very good friends who went to school together and some of them are professional fishermen.

A movie was released, based on their true story and how they got a deal with a major record company:-
              Movie trailer:-

Video clip featuring the real Fisherman's Friends:-
              http://https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg5d7cGtZY4

The most popular fish to have battered (and usually eaten with chips) is cod but haddock is also very popular over here as well.

I've heard of the other 2 fish varieties you mention but never tried them. Salmon, plaice and lemon sole are much more common varieties of fish over here. We do have calamari, you mentioned, as well.

I am going to Google the group who sang Brandy, to see if there are any other songs by them on u-tube I can listen to.

Very best wishes to you and your family.

                Hi Kayleigh

That's an old song, I think from the 70's, you never heard it before?

I don't remember seeing a Fisherman Friend movie, maybe didn't play here ? or maybe it did but I just don't remember it...

I thought the group were real seamen, they look it. Men who spend a lot of time out on the ocean always have the manly look about them, I guess because they brave the elements out on the sea.

Our commercial fishermen are considered the #1 most dangerous job in the country, and I can understand why,

I enjoyed the trailer you sent of the film, the second one couldn't play in US

                  Hi CC and all,

Yippee - The Fisherman's Friends have got their own website!
(suddenly, I have become a fan of Cornish sea-shanty singing fishermen!).

Sorry the link to the second video clip didn't work for you CC - its also on their website - the link to 'Meet the boys' (the real thing, rather than the actors in the movie!) is listed under 'Other Fishy Videos' near the end of the following webpage:-
                  http://https://thefishermansfriends.com/videos

I hadn't heard the song about 'Brandy' before - but I was very young in the 1970's and my memories of the music I enjoyed listening to (and dancing to!!), from that era, are mainly of a famous Swedish group.

A quick trip down memory lane (no prizes for guessing which is my favourite song! - and it happens to be listed as number 1 out of their top 25) ...... time to get your flares and dancing boots on, everyone! .....
                  http://https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KY6EptNPJh4

Love and 'Huggy Bear' hugs to everyone! (yes - I have memories of the 1970's TV show 'Starsky and Hutch' too! LOL).

As you have had a busy day, I thought you might like some restful music to listen to, and as it is Autumn ....

What an interesting idea, Kayleigh! Perhaps you could email the consultant to request it on my behalf.

I like the song, Autumn Leaves, but I'm afraid Acker Bilk brings back unhappy memories so perhaps a sung version? Nat King Cole sang it beautifully.

                        Hi Dina,

An email is winging it's way to the Consultant as we speak! LOL

... also, the wonderful Nat King Cole has entered the building and has taken his place on the stage ready to sing for you (ie in my post above) - and he doesn't mind singing a different song, if you like - any song requests are always very welcome!

                        Love and hugs,
