Oh Barry we used to go to the lake district every year because my dad loved the lakes and mountains. My mum loved the beaches and sea. You made me think of seahouses and all those lovely coastal villages. The weather wasn't always kind but it was so beautiful. Such a long time since I've been back.🙄

The moment lockdown is over I will be heading north to see mum and take her to Craster for a kipper supper.

matthew55 Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite were only 90 minutes drive from me when I lived in the north east but of course the south lakes are closer to you. I have a friend who volunteers for the RNLI and he has promised to take my ashes to sea.
