    Dessert Island Discs

Here’s one to think about. What would be the 8 records, one book and one luxury you would take if stranded on a Dessert Island.

If you want to put the reasons or well and good but equally it’s fine if you don’t want to.

    I’ll kick off with:-

Mony Mony..Tommy James & the Shondells...Reminds of skating around the sliver blades ice rink in my very early teens

Sunshine of Your Love..Cream... My brother borrowed the album Disraeli Gears off his mate. I played it to death. He never got it back

I’ll Say Forever my Love..Jimmy Ruffin... Simply it’s “our song”

Lets Dance..Chris Montez.. Reminds me of all the fab times we had at dances. Twirling Ann across the dance floor.

Young Girl..Gary Pucket & the Union Gap.. Just love it

Nessun Dorma..Pavarotti...just have to play it full blast. Sends tingles down my spine everytime

    America..Simon & Garfunkel...Love the middle drum bit

Yesterday..The Beatles...Had to have a Beatles tune so why not this one.

My book...The bible...I’ve never been particularly religious but as I would have plenty of time I would like to explore.

Luxury...My vaper...Nothing better than sitting back listening to tunes and having a puff.

The First Time Ever I Your Face - Roberta Flack - makes me actually cry x

my 8 records - difficult because there are so many

Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum. loved this when we went to the church hall and danced until our dads came to pick us up

      Hey jude - The beatles
coming out of school and all of us singing. seem to think it was the start of the school summer holidays

marvin gaye -heard it through the grapevine
Mecca dancing we used to run to the dance floor when we heard this song. still love it especailly the begining

the boxer - simon and garfunkel
      love singing along to this

      bohemian rhapsody - queen
would have to have this to sing along and remember

donna summer - i feel love
i just loved this. the sound seemed to go around the room.

Hot chocolate - you sexy thing
everytiime i hear this i think of The Fully Monty - agreat movie

I am sailing - rod stewart
i love this song but just incase i got fed up with being on an island it would be worth singing very loud on the hope someone sails past.

there are so many id like to add to my list.

as for a book - i have so many books i just wouldnt be able to decide but think if it counts a photograph album

luxury - suntan lotion or mosquito spray

You’re not on your own Denise. The producers of the show tell us we can take records but are going to play them on 🤷‍♂️

I'm trying to think what they tried on the Flintstones 🤔

[QUOTE=Bowler;n52058]Here’s one to think about. What would be the 8 records, one book and one luxury you would take if stranded on a Dessert Island.

Ok Bowler, I will give this a go.... to keep me awake:

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Reminds me of my youth, my bruv blasting out their songs on the stereo vinyl to the annoyance of the neighbours during his heavy rock phase

Because it cheers me up: Uptown funk:

                  Jamiroquai. During my depressive phase:

The classic, Mr Gaye, because, cough, well, memories:

Maybe I should have picked this one instead - ha!:

And a bit of Ella, love this:

Spirit in the sky: love it

And to cheer me up, Pharrell Williams:

My book...a bit of a cheat - book set of Lord of the Rings, geeky or what.

Luxury...Toilet paper. Well, you said desert island! Ha! No. My real answer would be my dog for company, if there's no people.

Carer for Dad - MND (ALS) 22/4/21 and Mum Alzheimers 26/5/21.

Girding my loins and grinding my battle axe for them both...
