I'll look for it in my library (Crawdads one). I would love to have time to read (or listen) more, but at the moment my limited energies are going elsewhere (eg where to go for 4 weeks from October 11th whilst my adaptations are done). When I'm further immobilised and with carers, I imagine I will have more time. Also, just reading a book written by my niece (which the mnda would probably censor me mentioning!). Anyhow someone has given me Kate Grenville's "A room made of leaves", don't know at all if that's anybody's cuppa? I am appreciating recommendations from others though, thanks xxDiagnosed July 2020, ALS bulbar onset. PEG and ventilator (mainly at night), and pretty poor speech, but legs still about functioning!

Heather R 'A room made of leaves' is in my library and it's historical fiction so ok with me. Let's see what others thinkπ€& if accessible for all go for itπ
How lovely to have a niece who's a published author....I don't think anyone could object to your mentioning....π€·πΌββοΈ
That's tricky thinking about 4 weeks out of your home even though good to get adaptations done....π
I too am enjoying reading books recommended by others ππxInitial diagnosis 7-4-2021 'suspected MND' confirmed by 2nd opinion 4th June 2021 ALS. Began with R foot limp and lots of falls. NIV overnight. Generally weak. Mostly terrified.ββββββ

I've just finished American dirt this afternoon..was so engrossed I missed my siesta! π€ π΄
No spoilers but I cried from the time she went to the bank. I loved it but am ready to read something warm and fluffy next π€. I like the Amazon quick reads .some are free on unlimited and I'll have a look at A room made of leaves.
Oh Heather, I hope you sort out somewhere to go whilst your house adaptations are being done.. it will be worth it.!

the crawdads. its about a family that fall on bad times. they move to a hut surrounded by swamps. the family breaks up due to the fathers drinking. one poor little soul is left to fend for herself. its sad in places. she makes her way in life, helped by a few but alienated by villagers and accused of murder. its lovely to listen to. its available on youtube in useful one hour segments and so well read you cant stop listening.when i can think of something profound i will update this.

Well I'm really behind with American Dirt. Ordered it from Abe books, have been waiting and waiting......asked Abe books where it is, they've given me refund so back to square one! Have read A room made of leaves, which I quite enjoyed, but although I know it is a historical story I find it hard reading about colonial times. xDiagnosed July 2020, ALS bulbar onset.
