    Covid/ Omnicron

    Hi
Having a day whereby 10 people I know ( family and friends) haveInformed me they are symptomatic with covid/ omnicron.
Some of them close family I saw over last weekend.Yes my decision to see them.( hindsight is a wonderful thing).

It seems to be spreading like crazy. One of them had 6 negative lateral flow tests and then a positive test.
I can only pray for them….keep safe.
    Best wishes
    Mary

    Stay safe too Mary.

Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing ! Stuart and I thought long and hard about Christmas but decided to see our family and friends. We all did lateral flows and then decided to enjoy what was a special and emotional time. We hugged our sons for the first time in almost two years. ( and had smoochies with our grandson )

It might come back to bite me but it was my decision to see people xx😘🤗

Sorry if this is obvious but a test will only tell you that you haven't got something not that you aren't likely to get it. Good luck out there. 🍀🤞😁😍xx
Bulbar started Jan 2020. Mute and 100% tube fed but mobile and undefeated. Stay Strong 🤗😘🤗😁xx

Mary C sorry about the Omicron worry. Have you got any lateral flow tests to put your mind at rest? I hope that your friends and family who have Omicron recover quickly xx
ALS diagnosed November 2017, limb onset. For the 4 yrs previously I was losing my balance.

I'm staying positive and taking each day as it comes.

Mary C Yup, the Omicron variant is running rampant !! Hopefully it'll subside over the next few weeks due to herd immunity, as long as it's not followed immediately by a Pi variant 😏🤞

Hope you avoid it Mary and your relatives are soon Covid-free 😘😘

I’m afraid me and my partner have got covid. It’s knocked us for six and our carer has also gone sick at the same time so apart from carers coming in the morning all wrapped and masked up I’ve been left with a very poorly warrior and I’m so poorly myself.
stay safe everyone cause we have had the boosters but it still feels like I’ve been hit by a bus.
Hopefully will get through it soon.

Jo jo Sorry to hear that Jo Jo.

Has your partner not been offerered either of the two experimental treatments? Because he has MND, he is eligible.

If he hasn't had a letter regarding treatments available should he get Covid, click here for information. xx

My kids gave me Covid for Christmas! (see full story on other thread).
Our symptoms were mild - wife had a sniffle and I was just bit chesty.
I refused the "special treatment" as I didn't feel too bad, and I didn't want to spend Christmas Day on a drip.
I'm now testing negative, so I'm off to a New Years Eve party tomorrow.
We seem to have been lucky, and I can only wish for similar for you lovely folks.
Although the stats of the Omicron spread are alarming, the reality of actually getting this milder strain wasn't too bad (for us).
                Hi, I'm Eddie.
Started with wobbly left ankle in Nov 2020. Diagnosed 22 Oct 2021, confirmed by 2nd opinion 4 days later.
Full time powerchair user. Overnight NIV. PEG'ed but still eating. Voice banked but still talking.
Still wondering what the future will bring.

Omicron certainly spreading like wild fire. Take care all & remain cautious. 😷

My PCR test kit arrived in the post....special treatment if required.
Initial diagnosis 7-4-2021 'suspected MND' confirmed by 2nd opinion 4th June 2021 ALS. Began with R foot limp and lots of falls. NIV overnight. Generally weak. Mostly terrified.

I’m dreading Omicron, colds always went to my chest before the MND
Diagnosed 18th May 2021 with sporadic ALS. Limb onset. Terrified of not being able to breathe easily.

Rosemary6NT I'M the same. Cold resulted in chest infection. Well im glad me & tom decided to stop going out a few wks ago. We have a fab group of friends at the pub but they don't exactly follow guidance. I have huge family and we always get together but we decided to come away to Wales. Very glad as 5 of the 8 friends now got covid. I agree with you Ellie that it doesn't seem to be so bad re symptoms so hopefully its dying back a tad.

Thanks for the information about the treatments Ellie. I got my letter and PCR test yesterday

Our youngest has just tested positive . I think its spreading like wildfire. I've just done a negative LFT but it obviously means I can't visit my mum and she finds it hard to understand.

Take Care and stay safe everyone xx😘🤗

Never have our noses been so clean 🤣🤣🤣😘

                              Thanks for the info Ellie
we haven’t heard anything about this so will be enquiring. Daren is fighting it off well but I’m struggling. I have rheumatoid arthritis so on methotrexate which lowers my immune system. I’m just so grateful Daren is not feeling to bad. He’s got a rough throat and is bringing up lots of phlegm but atleast he’s able to bring it up with the cough machine.
I’m sure we will be ok but although we have had our boosters it’s still knocked the socks off us.

                              Stay safe everyone xx
