    No water

    Hi all,

I woke up to low water pressure and now we have no water due to an issue in a neighbouring postcode.

We're on the priority register and have confirmed we'll receive delivery of bottle water at some point.

I've managed to boil a few kettles and fill a few pots before the water went completely.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this for a couple of days and what happened?

I ask as my mum is housebound and we'd be unable to move her, as she based upstairs.

Hopefully water will return later but would rather prepare mentally for the worst, just in case.

    Thanks

Not immediately helpful today, but register with your utility suppliers as vulnerable users for the address, should have prioritised things.

Social Media message like their Twitter page might prompt them to engage via direct message, if no timely response so far?

Purpletunes We were without water for a few days one summer and the Council provided a daily water tanker for our little cul-de-sac, which we mainly for flushing the loos, bathing, washing hands and dishes etc - don't know what we'd have done had we just had bottles of water...

Separately we were given bottled water, which was never enough, so we bought more to drink but boiled the tanker water for tea and coffee. Only bottled water went through my feeding tube but I'm nearly sure the syringes etc were washed in pre-boiled tanker water.

Bathing me was a bit of a palaver and, much as I hate the environmental impact of baby wipes, they were used as 'bits and pits' cleansers. Being sponge washed isn't ideal nor thorough when sat in a shower chair and hard to rinse (hence the baby wipes), washing hair using basins of water is doable.

The hardest thing was lugging in the heavy containers of water, or so I was told πŸ˜β€‹ and having no washing machine or dishwasher was a first world pain - how we take our taps for granted...

The ironic thing is that we have our own well in this house, so have an independent water supply, but need electricity to pump and purify it, so if ever the power were off for a few hours, we would run out of water πŸ™„β€‹ xx

As always thank you for your responses!

We're on the priority register and DM'd the water provider. They couldn't give an ETA on bottled water arriving. From Twitter I can see it's caused issues for many households. We now have low water pressure again downstairs. So managed to flush the loo and refilling everything again. My sister dropped off some bottles of water (keeping that in reserve for now).

Hopefully it will be sorted soon. Although not what you need at this time of year. It's definitely made me think of how to cope if the situation was to arise again.

Many thanks as always for you responding when I'm struggling with what life throws at me 😊
