    Unusual symptoms?

    Hi All,

I know there are a lot of symptoms posts so I will try and keep it brief. However I wondered if anyone else had a similar experience to me?

    So these are my symptoms:

Long standing fasciculations, cannot remember start, possibly 3-5+ years. Affecting all areas.

    Vertigo, 3 years ago

    Fatigue, 1-2 years

Feeling of unsteadiness on feet, 1+ year

Shortness of breath 10 months since noticed, gradually worsening.

Feeling of heaviness in arms, legs for around 7 months

Muscle spasticity (I think) issues past 4 months (e.g walking up stairs legs tire/ stiffen faster than usual)

Recently feel like im starting to drag my left foot a little when walking.

Onset seems to be affecting all areas of body rather then starting in one place.

    Other past medical problems:

Long standing fungal skin infection problems*
    Arrhythmia
    Vitreous floaters
Slipped disc (microdiscectomy to relieve trapped nerve, lumbar spine) 2.5 years ago
Anxiety (took sertraline a few months ago, lead to worsening of apparent neuro symptoms so stopped taking)

So far awaiting further tests including EMG, had mri scans and bloods which were clear apart from minor vit D dif. Physical examination was apparently normal.

I know it's best to wait for answers from the specialists but it is on my mind most of the time. I am only in my early 30s and obviously very concerned.

    Many Thanks!

Hi Ash and welcome to the forum no-one wants to need.

It's understandable that you're worried. Symptoms can vary so much and I have little real medical knowledge and no medical training so I wouldn't want to comment on your situation. Sorry, I know that's no help. However, there is a huge pool of knowledge on here to draw on.

I sincerely hope you don't have MND.

Trying to keep positive, but not always managing.

      Hi Ash,

Your symptoms are mostly symptoms of Mnd but the time scales do not match any that I can remember. Your problems could be so many other things. They should be able to tell more from the EMG and a lumbar puncture.

If you have poor breathing then maybe you can have some breathing tests.

There are drugs that can help with spasticity.

I hope that you get some diagnosis soon and things that will help your condition.

        Hi Ash

I believe we may have spoken a couple of times on the helpline and I am very sorry to hear that your symptoms are still concerning you. As we've previously discussed, your symptoms and your circumstances do not sound like a typical presentation of motor neurone disease (MND).

Your test results have so far been clear and your physical examination has been normal. After having symptoms for 5+ years, someone with MND would almost certainly have far more disabling symptoms which would show on physical examination.

Unfortunately no one on the forum is in a position to give an opinion on your symptoms. Please do know that MND Connect are here to support you. Please do contact us back on the MND Connect helpline if you would like to discuss your concerns further. We are available either via email at [email protected] or on freephone 0808 802 6262.

        With Kindest Regards
