I love a drink and for the first 2 years after diagnosis my intake hadn’t dropped too much. Owning a bar didn’t help only switching from lager to red wine as I was sick of going to the loo. Still love a drink but I’m at the stage where I can’t even stand up to use my walker if I have a tipple. Ah well.

A Drink, guess what today formally diagnosed with MND six years ago. I am naughty I have 1 pint a night. I am not religious and only pray for Enville Ginger might have two today as it’s hot as well.
Best wishes John

Happy birthday Matthew,
I’m with Doug on this issue although I am convinced that MND has reduced my capacity for alcohol and I can fall over sober.
Best wishes,
Barry

Hi Doug, My dear departed Grandfather reached 102 and he drank one small glass of booze every single day of his life. And thank you very much.

Hey Matthew
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Wine is a serious hobby of mine. Now I drink very little. So I make sure when I do it's VERY good wine.

I know it's bad but sometimes only a proper drink will do, you can only die once so die happy! My Birthday today so funny mood.😊

Hi Madhur,
Thank you for your query.
Alcohol consumption seems to have no influence on the risk of developing MND. Also, there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that alcohol intake may exert a protective role against MND.
It may be worth knowing that for some people with MND, drinking alcohol can cause coughing. Alcohol can also dehydrate the body and in excessive amounts may affect balance. Additionally, when taking any type of medication, it is recommended that you check with your doctor if it is safe to continue drinking alcohol.
I do hope this is helpful.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further queries.
Kind regards,
Prachi
