Hi can anyone advise where I can get a cough assist machine. I have asked my respiratory consultant and he is saying they can’t supply me one.

Hello Nickyp
A Cough Assist is a medical device and so it should be provided by the NHS if it is required. Has your respiratory consultant assessed you as needing a Cough Assist? If so, they should be providing it for you. Prior to having a Cough Assist, people are often given exercises such as Breath Stacking to try first. Has this been suggested by the respiratory consultant?

Hi Rachel my respiratory consultant is saying can’t supply me. I am also a member to some MND groups on Facebook and people are saying they can’t get one either and they are living in Kent County like me. People in other county’s seem to get one. Southampton is a yes. I also am doing the exercises but when bad and thick I can’t cough it up.

Hi Nickyp
I've been in contact with our Area Support Coordinator (ASC) for Kent and we're not aware of people in the area having any problems accessing Cough Assists. We are aware of where people are having Cough Assists provided for them.
The ASC for Kent would be happy to look in to this issue for you and see what we can do to help. Would it be possible for you to contact him directly about this? His name is Ahmed Abdeldayem and his telephone number is 01604 800651 and his email address is [email protected]
Best Wishes
