Tks All, got pips on 12 points disability and ESA (my sick pay is due to stop in October). Also a very speedy blue badge. Welcome but just another nail in the coffin on the MND rocky road.

Worsleybird....I rang The PIP helpline and the person who answered went through a few questions as I said I had a DS1500.She completed the form and told me where to forward the DS1500 too.Awarded high rate very quickly.
Good Luck

I was diagnosed in Jan with MND. I applied for PIP in April. My MND co ordinator talked me through the form , on the phone. Two days ago I had a telephone assessment. It took nearly two hours . Asking me all the same questions. At one point I got very upset and told the lady that I thought she didn’t believe me. Some of the things she asked seemed so irrelevant. Asking about my eye drops I have used for years! Can I get on a bus? I can only just get in the car! I was completely exhausted afterwards . The next day I get a text telling me it could be another 8 weeks.

I have just had my PIP renewed after three years. I needed a new DS1500 . The MND nurse fills mine in and gives it to me to send to the DWP. ( keep a copy !) If you ring the DWP there is a different department? If you have a DS 1500.. You still have to answer questions though or have someone to answer them for you.
Love Debbie x

So Mary am I right in saying if the Consultant sends off your PIP, you need to ring the Pip helpline to tell them? Or you dont need to?
Also do you still have to fill in the 44 page PIPS form (Im guessing not ?)

The MND nurse has said she will ask the consultant to fill in the DS1500 form. I know there was a push towards it being 12 month life expectancy and not 6 months. Going to read the link Prachi has suggested. Not wishing to sound morbid but assume if we get PIPS via DS1500 form then we can claim terminal illness under a life insurance policy (here's hoping) as I want to try and assist my partner and family and remove the financial worries. (Im worth more dead than alive !)

Stephen doesn't qualify for pip but he couldn't even fill in the form. Doing his ds1500 today but with help tomorrow. Also have a carers thingy to look at.
