    Hi,
I suggest you make a list of questions that your dad, mom and you want to ask ..under various headings.
It needs to start with what’s the most urgent thing your dad wants to discuss ?
You all need to know what the care plan is and who will be making contact next, for what purpose and record name and contact details.
Its very individual about how much detail we want to know ..some people want to know what happens if……whilst some people won’t talk about the MND possible symptoms.
For myself I wanted to know initially which team would be supporting me and how often etc.
I needed to talk about current symptoms at stage I was diagnosed and how this would be managed( reduced mobility, fasciculations, cramps in legs etc)
My husband and daughter were with me when I met the nurse specialist and she had the expertise to include us all and answer sensitively our questions,
I can only say I have had excellent support from the palliative care team from the beginning and I hope that will be your dads experience too as well as yours and your moms.
    Best wishes
    Mary

First visit by Clinical Nurse Specialist

My Dad has his first visit by the Clinical Nurse Specialist tomorrow and I'm going to support him and my Mum. Is there anything we should be asking? I have a million questions but at the same time have none, if that makes sense. It's overwhelming.
