Split Hand Sign and MND atrophy

My pinky finger if my left hand has shrunken, my left hand index finger shakes, twitching up and down and splits from the rest of the hand when holding it out as if holding a pizza, and recently the first dorsal interosseous muscle has come under severe atrophy, with considerable discomfort if the thumb or index finger is flexed back or upright. Does this sound like motor neurone? Apparently I have no clinical weakness...

Is this as in immediately see your doctor NOW there is something seriously wrong? Or is it 'go away' see your doctor? I can't even open a can of soft drink anymore with my left hand...

Just go and see your doctor who can suggest what to do next. We can't say one way or another we aren't medically trained.
when i can think of something profound i will update this.

There's also split hand sign forming on the left hand, the pinky and forefinger splitting off, I cannot open a can of soft drink or reliably button my shirt with that hand alone, and it's trembling/twitching/spastic joints/wrist pains and suffering atrophy... Split hand, and then clinical weakness, right? It seems like I'm beginning down that road for my left hand...

As an attempt at 'sensitive' intervention, respectfully balancing the lived experiences of others here, further down an MND diagnostic journey than myself, but also acknowledging (from my own experiences), the challenges of getting beyond a Doctor's Receptionist in the year 2022 - If you are having trouble getting a G.P. appointment that acknowledges your symptoms / what you feel - consider making a Physiotherapist appointment by your own arranging. They are unlikely to make a diagnosis for various professional ethical reasons, but they could write up an observation report to your G.P. which (in medical language) gives some focus to your concerns, as a way of moving things forward for you personally...
2020: odd symptoms. Nov 2021: Hand atrophy.. Mar 2022: Second arm atrophy - Confirmed Apr 2022: MND.
Also Crohn's Disease from 2005ish. (Hi, I'm Dan in Cheshire)...

The body habitus is different with all of us friend.

From what I see, the pictures are not significant (I am not a medical professional). If this is the beginning of something, this is not the place to find any kind of diagnosis. Many of us have lost far more than you could imagine, so understand that these questions are not welcomed very well. If you want to study up on MND, there are many places on the internet filled with information to help you. IF you are serious about this, as it appears, you need to bring this issue to a medical professional. Diagnostics to figure out what it is may take time. Many people have studies on this just like you only to find that the biggest problem is the stress and anxiety that worry brings with it from mysterious symptoms that are not professionally diagnosed.

You have been provided good advice above from others. See a doctor, otherwise worrying about this will become a monster.

I honestly don’t even know what split hand is…🤷‍♀️. All I know is that my left hand is a claw, all curled up with fingers pointed in weird ways. Also that I drop everything that I attempt to hold…but only in one hand right now 👍 I wouldn’t think that it would affect both hands simultaneously..but I don’t have a clue (not a neurologist)

I know it's very insulting behaviour... It's just that... Hand muscles are meant to be symmetrical, right? I'm just wondering if the thenar muscles of the left hand have started to flatten out... If a split hand is forming... Since it feels weak, I'm still able to grip plates, turn a key, etc, if that's anything to go off...

                            Wrong.

Even ambidextrous people have a dominant hand.

Hands, just like the rest of the body, are not symmetrical.

                              Hello Arkotract

We would suggest you contact the GP if you are concerned about any medical symptoms and they can refer you to other medical specialist if they feel it is necessary. The MND Association are unable to offer a medical diagnosis.
