Finding a Carer For Bedtime

I live in North London N4. My wife has MND and now needs assistance with dressing, toilet, feeding, speaking, and hoisting from chair to bed, etc. We've been trying for weeks to find a private carer to help with this evening routine. I have sciatica which is making it very difficult to do this myself. Does anyone, esp. if you are based in N London, have any helpful info on tracking down a private carer? I've joined a connection website called carers.com but so far not found anyone that way, we've asked friends and aquaintences for recommendations, so far to no avail. Maybe it's because it's a short shift, and also a popular time of night to try and get people to come out. We may go the agency route in the short term, but they want to send two carers for using a mobile hoist, therefore doubling the cost, inc. the agency fee. And they want her to get in bed unacceptably early, too.

Any suggestions, please?

I'm so sorry, Guy, I have no specific local knowledge for you.

If your wife is linked into your local hospice, see if their Social Worker has any suggestions. If she has no hospice link, ask for a referral.

Re the hoist: a 2-person requirement is pretty standar, even though often one person can easily and safely operate it. Would the care agency let you count as a person? (my agency can count a family member as a carer, if required)
