    Chest infections

    Hi.
my dad is going to the doctor tomorrow as he thinks he has a chest infection. He has described a rattling in his chest when he eats or drinks. Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm worried could be pneumonia. It is now 16 months since official diagnosis but 2 years since onset of symptoms. He weighs just over 8 stone but still mobile.
    Thanks again everyone

If it is a chest infection, he'll be evaluated for his breathing and overall health and either put on oral antibiotics or, if necessary, IV antibiotics, which may mean hospital, depending on where he lives.

How is your dad's breathing usually? Is he breathless now? Does he feel poorly? xx

His breathing is ok but when he tries to eat the noises are really scary. I havent noticed his breathing changing but he is mainly sitting when we visit. I'm worried it's pneumonia. He wouldn't tell us if he did feel poorly he'd keep it from us x
