    Breathing change

    Hi Folks

My partner is on the end of life pathway and today there is a noticeable change in her breathing. She is taking 4 or 5 sharp intake breaths and then pausing for 10 seconds or so before breathing again, while there is visible ‘pulsing’ on her neck.

Please can anyone advise if this means she is a significant step further to passing away?

Sorry to ask but I’m struggling to find guidance around this.

    Kind regards

    Mike

Sorry to hear this Mike - presumably your partner is under palliative care at the moment and is she on any sedating meds? xx

Thanks Ellie. Yes, she is under palliative care but today is the one day this week they haven’t planned to visit, so I’ve been in a bit of a panic. She is having morphine and meds for distress via a syringe driver and morphine via top up injections as/when needed. Just so hard seeing her struggling to breathe….

Can you ring them Mike? Neither of you should be in distress at this stage. xx
