Had a really tough week, been so worried about my husband, he has been so confused particularly in the mornings, his mobility has deteriorated, our OT is seeing to ceiling track hoists for us in 2 rooms. He has had a catheter fitted today and he may have to move from morphine to oxycodone. Hoping next week might be an easier one xx

Doggymama I've been thinking about you both, Alison.
I'm sure the nurse has explained that the morning confusion your husband is experiencing is likely due to overnight CO2 retention, which lessens when he is awake and upright.

Thank you for your kind replies. He’s so very tired and each day is such a struggle.. On the positive side our district nurse is so lovely as is the Macmillan team who are looking after him. Our OT is amazing. We are so lucky to live where we do. Much love and thanks to all of you for being there every step of the way xxxLost my lovely husband on 31.12.22, diagnosed with ALS on 15.12.21.

Things still not good, his urine is really dark red brown with low output. I’ve managed to get him to drink more but no difference, we’ve had a sample tested, no infection. He wasn’t so confused on waking but is confused now, he says he’s too hot but his feet feel freezing but he won’t let me cover them. I wish I knew how to help him xxxLost my lovely husband on 31.12.22, diagnosed with ALS on 15.12.21.

Macmillan nurse came and he has a nasty UTI so now on antibiotics, he is stopping the morphine and going to be taking oxynorm and a slow release oxycodone. They are querying haloperidol too. She is also arranging a night sitter nurse from the local hospice to come one or two nights a week. xxxLost my lovely husband on 31.12.22, diagnosed with ALS on 15.12.21.
