    80x80 Challenge

Thought I’d share with you an amazing feat that a lovely bloke, Alan Jones-Bratt, is about to undertake to celebrate his 80th birthday. In a nutshell he will be playing 80 ends of outdoor bowls, 80 ends of indoor bowls, 80 holes of golf and finish up walking 80 miles. He is putting himself through this to raise funds for four charities, MNDA, Diabetes UK, Alzheimer’s Society and Prostrate Cancer.

I will be taking part in the bowling phase.

The YouTube link below is of Alan explaining more.

Hello, This is my Introduction for my Challenge upcoming. Please see the below link to a just giving page, in which any donations are greatly appreciated. ht...

What a great bloke. I walked a marathon once, only 26 miles, don't think my knees have been the same since.

He could do with some national awareness ...
Carer for husband diagnosed with ALS April 2021. Hand onset. PEG fed, completely immobile, communicated with eye gaze

    Sense of humour intact throughout.

    Sadly passed away peacefully 2/9/22

      I agree.

I believe his son in law is coordinating the PR side. He is getting good local radio and newspaper coverage which is starting to crank up more the nearer we get to the start date. His target is to raise £80k which will be split equally between the four charities

denise It was all going exactly according to plan with just one 20 mile walk to complete, then his body said woah hold on matey you’re 80 I can’t do anymore. After seeking medical advice he delayed the final walk by about 10 days. I’m delighted to say he’s now completed his challenge.

Alan has now added a final fundraising dinner in November during which he will present the cheques to the four charities inc the MNDA. I believe he’s so far raised around £6k but is hoping more will come in especially as the local BBC news carried a filmed feature showing each of the events.

            Thank you for asking.
