    Ear Issues

My wife's voice and swallow are deteriorating and she has recently developed a blocked sensation in one ear. She describes it as having just got out of a swimming pool. Her head feels blocked and things sound muffled with an echo. Anybody else experienced similar symptoms?

Hi Ken my dad has bulbar onset with very poor swallow and no speech. He hasn't had anything like you describe. May be worth asking a pharmacy or doctor to review in case of a blocked ear or an infection (although I would have thought it would be sore with an infection)

Ken Ken, if it’s not waterlogged, maybe it’s a build-up of wax.

I find that one of my ears tends to clog relatively easily probably because of my inability to sniff, coupled with my one-sided neck weakness.

You can buy kits in the pharmacy or do a DIY olive oil version.

If you're at all worried, ask your wife’s GP or nurse. xx

Ken I had problems for a long time with blocked up ears and sinus and head, the only thing that works for me is Sterimar Nasal spray. Its literally salt water. The dr prescribed it for me when I had continuous ear and sinus issues and it works a treat. Two sprays in each nostril morning and night has prevented my problems now, and you can buy it over the counter, it cleared my ears even though you don't squirt there! xx
