    Just looking for hand glove things and I came across this, http://www.healthandcare.co.uk/urias...nd-splint.html

    Whilst I appreciate that most of us could not blow them up, they might be able to reduce swelling and other things, especially if you could join them up to a pump that alternates and has a very low pressure.

    I use the split in the day time at work. Then i take it off at night and try to do some finger movements.

    Hi Snowman and welcome to the forum;

    Try to keep the joints moving on that finger a few times every day, it might help with the discomfort.

    Thanks for the tip on the finger splint.

    Best wishes, Terry

    Hi. i have the same problem with my middle finger right hand. my mnd is just in my right arm, shoulder and hand at the moment. biggest problem for me was poking myself in the eye trying to wash my face . I do get a small amount of pain when i straighten it but its not bad. i have just brought a finger splint that works really well and seems to keep my finger straight for a while when i remove it.

    check out: https://www.neo-g.co.uk/products/336...-finger-splint

    they come in different sizes so measure your finger first.

    When I used to play golf I wore thermal mittens in the winter and they are large enough to slip on over gloves. I still have them and find they are great when I am out on my scooter.

    Hi Newbie,
    Like Terry, I'd love some too. Sitting in the house with the heating and the fire on and my hands are still freezing!
    Thanks,

    Where did you buy the heated electric mitts and how much are they?

    Can you post a link so that we can see what they are like?

    Hello Clive my MND all down left side. I have good arm clamp on left hand I put on at night in bed only. It does stop gripping. Unfortunately right hand now painful as had Bennett fracture right thumb in 1976 playing rugby and other finger knuckles bit sore probably taking on the Peaky Blinders. I put Voltarol on three times a day and that helps.
    Best wishes JOHN

    Both my hands are like claws now I was given some splinter to wear at night too they are straight for a short time when taken off but quickly curl up again. I also find massage eases the discomfort

    My physio has warned me about the shortening of the tendons and has recommended some exercises for me to do strengthen my wrist which help. I experience severe curling and pain when I attempt certain tasks like holding a knife and cutting. I have to uncurl my fingers manually before the pain stopsI suggest you ask about some physio to see if that helps.

    I also find when I am cold my hands stop working which makes opening the front door difficult sometimes. There are a lot of thermal material gloves about which I intend buying as the Winter is coming. This material is warm but thin so hopefully will not be too restrictive.

    Hi Terry,

    Sounds like you could have your own business - warm hands for MND patients!
    By the way, I couldn't sew to save my life!

    Hi Bern;

    I bought two different colours for £3.79 each. my wife wanted one to ware on her lower legs, (My wife is strange??). I then ordered two more so I had two if I wanted. A MS lady from the town scooter loan place wanted some so i got her two.

    You can get thicker more expensive ones there as well.
